The incredible shrinking Julie

Big shout out to Julie T. She brought it with her diet and her workouts lost 27.5 total inches and an incredible 30.4 pounds with one round of P90X. Awesome job Julie!!

CongratulationsYouDitIt

She's not done yet. Julie is starting right back with Insanity.

"All I can say is OMG - it's insane.  That's really the most appropriate thing to say about it.  I LOVE IT."

She's done about a week of it and says she already sees improvement in her running.

I can't wait to hear how she does after 6 weeks of that craziness!

Beachbody Coaching FAQ's

A customer recently asked me some excellent questions about Team Beachbody coaching. I want to post my answers here.

How long have you been a coach?  I started doing P90X at the end of 2005.  But the Team Beachbody Coaching opportunity was not available until March of 2007.  I researched it for a while, then took the plunge in July 2007.  At that time all of us pioneers didn't have any tools.  None of us had any experience in MLM.  We just loved the products and were already spreading the word about P90X and answering questions about it, so we all figured that we might as well get paid for doing what we love and are doing already anyway!

Is this the first direct marketing business you've been involved in?
Yes.  I've learned a lot in the time I've been doing it.  One of the biggest things that I've learned about the business is never taught by the company.  The key is to realize that your main product is not P90X or Shakeology or anything that your direct sales company sells.  Your main product is you.

How many hours per week do you spend building your business?
I put in on average about 15 hours per week.

One of the great things about the network marketing industry is the flexibility of the hours.  I can schedule it around my work at the hospital and around my family life.  That being said, anyone who says you can make money at this business without any effort is either lying or setting you up for failure.

To succeed, I suggest at least 10 hours per week.  What I see is the coaches who put in consistent effort over time are the ones who rise to the top.  It is a lot like working out.  It is not magic but it does take consistent effort over time.

One 3 hour long workout until you drop wont get you ripped.  But an hour a day at least 5 days a week for 90 days sure will.  Consistent effort over time is the key to great P90X results and it is the key to Beachbody Coaching success as well.  (And success in virtually all areas of life I believe).

How much income do you receive from your business?
Over the last 7 weeks my average has been $431. (see attachment).  My goal for 2010 (which I expect to surpass) is 25,000.  In 2011 I expect to double that to $50,000.

That is not typical.  Incomes vary based on effort, skill, and other factors.  Most coaches make less than me.  Some make more.  A lot more.  I have three coaches that I know about who are DOWNLINE from me who have already replaced their full-time income with coaching and are now coaching full-time.   The most any coach made in 2009 was $932,000!

Is the advertising budget going to increase, decrease or stay the same for Beach Body products on television and the internet?
Beachbody spent 90 million dollars on advertising last year.  Since they are growing so fast, I don't expect that number to go down.  They have been in the direct response business for over 10 years, and really know what they are doing as it relates to buying advertising and creating effective spots.  They don't tell coaches their future plans, but I have confidence that they will spend when it is appropriate, and hold back when the markets dictate as well.  They test all their ads.  If they are not getting the response they want, the ads are pulled, tweaked, and run again.

The interesting thing is that when I started, nobody had heard of P90X.  A a result of the advertising (and word of mouth from the transformations), now everyone wants to do it.  I was at a party last weekend, and when I started to talk about P90X, everyone got interested.  I got 3 business cards from people who wanted to buy it.  This never happened 2 years ago.  It was great!

Let me know how I can get started.

P90X Resistance Bands

Another great question from a reader. Keep them coming:

Mike from Ithaca writes:

Dear Kevin,

I need to get a 50lb fitness band because I just can't cut it with real pull-ups yet.  I have however found a good way to simulate the moves using multiple resistance bands in combination with the pull-up bar.  My question is, can I order the band through you, so that you benefit somehow?  If so, I want to do it immediately (I should've done it last week).
Also, the push-ups are tough.  I'm still doing them mostly from my knees and am considering putting a board between two chairs so as to do some bench presses with my dumbbells.  Thoughts?

Many thanks,

Mike

Hey Mike

Stick with your P90X workouts and you'll be doing pushups and pullups like a madman before too long!

I appreciate thinking of me for the bands.

Since I am already connected to you as your coach, anything that you decide to get from TeamBeachbody.com will give me credit.  They have an excellent 50# band for $22.95.  I am a fan of the bands they sell because in all these years of my own use and others, I have not heard of any breaking.  Some knockoff bands have been known to do so- and that is really unsafe.

To get it, go to teambeachbody.com > equipment & gear > bands & balls.  Then scroll down to the black band (b10)- which says 50 lbs.

P90X Resistance Bands

As far as the pushups, there is nothing wrong with doing them on your knees.  That is one of the great things about working out at home.  You can do that, and no-one has to know!  At the gym, there is pressure to always look cool.  Not so in your own house.  This frees you up to focus on the important thing- results!

I think shaking it up with some dumbell chest press is a great idea.  If you go with the board between two chairs, make sure it is sturdy and safe.  An alternate idea for you is to get a balance ball and use that.   It has the added benefit of working your core at the same time because you will naturally stabilize yourself during the exercise.  I suggest the medium ball for that.  It is the one I use and it works great for dumbell press.  You can find that on the same page as the bands on the Team Beachbody site.

Beachbody Balance Balls, great for dumbell chest press.

Keep pushing play!

Kevin
